Examinations and Cleanings

Cleanings

White Oaks Dental Office has two experienced dental hygienists, Nancy and Hoda, who are available to help you maintain healthy gums. The average patient needs to return every six months for a check up and cleaning. It allows us to check for any changes in your oral health and the development of any problems on the teeth like new cavities. For patients with a more serious gum disease, some may need to be seen as often as every three months. During the cleaning, scaling is performed to remove any tartar that has built up on the teeth. This is followed by a polish to remove any remaining stain and produce a smooth surface. A fluoride treatment is also provided for children and any adults that are very prone to cavities.

Exams and X-rays

A complete exam, in conjunction with X-rays, is always required for all new patients to assess their oral health and determine what treatments need to be performed by our dentist in Oakville. This includes a thorough check of the condition of the teeth and any existing fillings and an examination of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth is also done. The conditions of the gums are evaluated to allow us to check for signs of periodontal disease. Any questions about the suggested treatment, including estimates and other options, can be discussed at this time.
